Common Questions

Yes. Permission is required from the cemetery, churchyard or burial authority before a headstone or memorial can be installed. Churchill Memorials completes and submits the permit application on your behalf, helping to make the process clear, simple and stress-free.

The person named on the grave deed or Exclusive Right of Burial is normally the person authorised to apply for a memorial. If you are unsure who owns the grave rights, Churchill Memorials will guide you through the information the cemetery needs before the application is submitted.

Many cemeteries require families to wait around six months after a burial before a full headstone is installed, allowing time for the ground to settle. However, this depends on the cemetery and the grave foundation. Some cemeteries have concrete beams or prepared foundations already in place, which allows a memorial to be fixed much sooner once cemetery approval has been granted. Churchill Memorials checks the cemetery or churchyard requirements for you and confirms when installation can take place.

The timescale depends on the memorial design, stone availability, cemetery approval, inscription work and installation schedule. Once we have the cemetery details, grave information and chosen memorial design, Churchill Memorials provides a clear estimated timescale for the full process.
